Needs to stop.

Holidays are a trap. A delicious trap.

Other twenty-one guys are doing

Randy Pausch's last lecture --

9 years old, first Football practice. Coach didn't bring any footballs to practice. A kid asks

"Excuse me coach there aren't any footballs"
"Right. How many men are on a football field at a time"
"Eleven on a team, twenty-two"
"Alright and how many people are touching the football at any given time"
"One of them"
"Right so we're gonna work on what those other twenty-one guys are doing"

I think the idea translates pretty well.  It's gotta be pulled off perfectly, though. I'm not really willing to throw it out there this year, but next year it might work.

Tomorrow

Tomorrow, in order to fulfill my destiny (revealed to me in a dream the other night), I will do push ups. And Crunches. And ya know what, even calf thingies. Yes, Calf thingies.

Best Blagger means nothing without cannons to complement my corn-rows.

Last night

Last night I had a dream that I did a lot of pushups and then my guns were huge and all the women loved them.

It's a sign.

Briefly

Quoted from "The Huddle" -- http://www.the-huddle.org/issues/13/real-time-space-for-real-time-results/

Some parts are bolded for emphasis.

I may show the defense on a chalkboard. for some, it is very useful to move off of the chalkboard and onto the field. I like to place people on the field (or a shortened field) and walk the entire team through each position, and explain what the contribution of each position is to the team-D concept.

After fielding questions (taking special care not to get into a flurry "What if?" questions) we run the defense against a 70%-speed offense. After 5-10 minutes of reps, we go 100% live. This is the usual time for things to degenerate, or objectives lost due to competitiveness, so it's very important to ensure that the reps are not rushed, and are re-focused with the team defense concept in mind. This is also a great time for people to experiment at different positions to get a feel for where their strengths lie in this particular team D.

Wait.... you're supposed to introduce a concept and then reinforce it on the field? I kind of thought we just introduce it and then let them run wild.

Never would have guessed.

Oh boy

I can't keep up with a triple post like that.

Brenden's last game is tomorrow and I plan on destroying. Not playing ultimate for 38973 years gets someone pumped to play again.  I really don't care if anyone else tries; I don't really expect anyone to try in the first place.  But I need to get the bids out of my system while playing ultimate before they forcibly leave when I'm delivering pizzas.

*Nerd Aside*
I really just want them to post the feature match for round 14. If it's not Oliver Ruel of France -- playing to get both the pro point for the team competition(crucial in the Player of the Year race) and a Top 8 berth so he can pull off the comeback of the century for the player of the year match vs. Masashi Oiso of Japan -- playing to solidify Japan as #1 in the Team Competition and a Top 8 berth so he can complete in his resume and with something only one player in Magic has done before -- Nationals Title, Individual World Title, Team World Title  in one year (P.S. It was Jon Finkel). A feat like that would place him most likely 3rd all time in greatest players, behind Finkel himself and Budde. If that isn't the feature match I quit the world.
*End Nerd Aside*

Regardless, 2-3-2 seems alright.  I mean it seems powerful, but Vert-stacks for this team are a trap, let alone two Ho-Stacks working together in perfect harmony.  Depending on how freshman development goes, which I'm a bit skeptical on(SURPRIZE!!), we should have the two handles down. The other problem is the two deeps.  Basically we're banking on Magic Roll Steve to show up and save the day. Not to say we don't have players with incredible physical talents, but it's tough to show those off when they don't show up.  This team can legit play any offense we want if we just show up to practice and do stuff.  One of our best deeps is practically forced to play somewhere in the midline,  leaving us with a stable of young athletes who don't come to practice a lot to pick up the slack at the deep position.  As much as I can motivate someone to get to the gym or go to practice, they gotta want it more themselves.

For a lack of a better conclcusion --

Ow

A note for next year -- Don't lift with the same intensity day 1 that you lifted with the last day last year.  Moving my left arm above 90 degrees is an issue, let alone doing Arnolds.

So I took today off.  I took a sweet nap.

Hazzy had a variety of green apples today, so I made it a point to take as many as humanly possible each trip to make sure I'd be set until the next time they put them out. I essentially have an orchard now. My diet is now a combination of apples and grilled chicken.  Also, pears are no apples. Don't be fooled.

I'll be lifting again tomorrow if all goes according to plan, namely me being able to get out of bed without too much of a physical struggle. Day 1 again -- Arnolds, Leg press, Flys, Decline press. And good old abs of course.

I hear rumors of people on the team going to the gym. I'm not sure how accurate they are.  Plus, a large amount of people on the team are saying "When we get back for second semester I'll start." That's a trap. I'd put money on it that the team "offical" conditioning doesn't start until a few weeks after we get back, and the people who are saying they'll start second semester make sure to wait for it to start. An entire month of sitting at home doing nothing more active than keg stands is sure to get us back to square one conditioning-wise. It'll show on the first day of conditioning who put time in, or at least didn't do nothing. Personally, I'm excited to pwn some n00bs.

I do need to get out sometime and throw so I'm not rendered to College Rookie Doober come Spring. Hopefully we get mad gym time to play indoor in.

And I am plenty bored enough to blag everyday.

Tom and I lifted yesterday.

It hurts now.
